Football

The sports culture is catching fire here in Berlin and pretty much in many other parts of the world. This World Cup international exhibition coming out of Brazil seems to be exciting the masses.

From what I can tell many people here in Berlin either don't have television or prefer the shared experience of watching these exciting games in a communal atmosphere.  Many beer gardens, restaurants and even small grocery stores have  suddenly set up large screen TVs in the street. Folks just park themselves in front of them with a beer bottle in hand and loudly cheer the athletes perform their competitive magic.  Corner stores have become mini arenas.

So much more fun than sitting home in the lazy boy recliner watching TV in the dark until I fall asleep.
