Spring Equinox Sunrise

It was so cool that it snowed tonight. The awesome anticipation of the start of the Spring Season most of us feel now is made all the more welcome with the fresh powder coating the hemlocks and pines. The ground has a solid carpet shining like China White. If visible the moon would reflect a bright luminescence creating an eerie shadow dance among the skeletal trees.

Here in New England we are busy with Seasonal tasks like burning brush, tapping the maple for sweet sap and getting next winters cordwood ready to age so it will burn efficiently in our woodstoves.

With the increasing daylight the winter stressed laying hens will begin to perk up with a reddening of their combs and more exuberant clucking. The proud rooster will sing his song to the sunrise and another Spring will have begun.
