Pride of Brooklyn

Brooklyn is known for many diverse things such as its distinctive dialect, that tough take no prisoners attitude, Pizza, Domino sugar, Flatbush Avenue, Hasidim, Juniors cheescake, the Navy Yard, Bed Stuy but none is so special as its bagels. Bagels are now available all over the country but none can stand up to a true Brooklyn Hand Rolled,
They are a snack that has no comparison. With the complicated process of rolling, boiling and baking making them a true specialty item. When ex pat New Yorkers visit town as a rule they return home with a supply of those fresh round beauties. All flavors are represented including plain, sesame, poppy, onion, cinammon raison and the ever popular everything. To satisfy the now ever increasing health concious bagel afficienado they are now available in a variety of whole grain flavors. My favorite is the multi grain with the ample assortment of seeds baked right onto the stiff brown outer crust. I am not sure which variety is most popular but I know that if you have not had a piping hot one right out of the oven you haven't really lived. My mouth waters just writing about it.
